Built for Dirt Late Model Racing
Dirt late model racing puts a suit through more abrasion and dust exposure than almost any other oval-track discipline. Our dirt late model suits are spec'd around four priorities:
- SFI 3.2A/5 multi-layer Nomex® baseline — Standard floor for Lucas Oil, World of Outlaws Late Models, and most regional touring.
- Aggressive dust seal at collar and cuffs — Higher collar, elastic wrist and ankle cuffs, storm flap over zipper — seals out clay and dust from 30-lap features.
- Reinforced shoulder, knee, and seat abrasion panels — Cordura or Kevlar reinforcement at the contact zones for slides and tire-barrier impacts.
- Darker exterior color options — Black, deep navy, and dark red mask dirt accumulation between heat races. Your team graphics still pop.
Sanctioning Body Compliance
Dirt late model sanctioning bodies share a common SFI 3.2A/5 floor with discipline-specific extras:
- Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series: SFI 3.2A/5 minimum. Fire-resistant underwear strongly recommended.
- World of Outlaws Late Models: SFI 3.2A/5 minimum across the touring series.
- DIRTcar / Northeast Late Models: SFI 3.2A/5 minimum. Check track-specific bulletins for higher requirements at premier events.
- Weekly track late model classes: Most weekly tracks specify SFI 3.2A/5; some accept SFI 3.2A/1 for hobby-stock variants.
- IMCA-style modified late model: SFI 3.2A/5 minimum.
Dirt late model is one of the few classes where over-spec'd protection (3.2A/10) makes sense for upper-tier touring drivers — methanol fuel loads + closed-cockpit heat make extra TPP worth the weight.
